I definitely new how to connect to a BBS when I was 12, but that's because I was 12 in 1996, when BBSes were still somewhat of a thing.

@domi I never used any BBSes because my parents wouldn't let me have a modem. They were always worried about me driving the phone bill through the roof and missing important phone calls. When I moved out, BBSes weren't really very interesting anymore because the Internet was exploding.
You know... even when I had dialup internet access I never once tried to connect to a bbs. huh.

(I was 12 when I got in trouble for connecting to a BBS from a school computer... in the early 90s. In fairness to "kids these days", they get up to some pretty impressive stuff. But I don't think they'd care much about BBS tech - at least not until they need to.)

I am happy to report that our twins (a decade away from 18, in the younger direction) know what a BBS is, and can use telnet or ssh to connect to one.
They know, because I told them about BBSes, and they found the idea intriguing, and more enjoyable than the modern, slow, ad-filled web. They like the small-scale, community-oriented nature of the BBS era far more than the slop-filled modern internet.
They spent enough time on Youtube, saw my wife's Facebook enough times to know they want nothing to do with that stuff. They hate algorithmic timelines, ads, clickbait and ai slop. Anything that isn't that is great in their book, whether modern or old.

I called Ward and Randy's CBBS back in 1978-79. My modems are well over 30 years old (if they still work).
The same might be said of a Mesh network. The bandwidth is so low, no minor would want to use it, as there's no TikTok or Snapchat there.
Have not used one since the 90s. How else was I meant to get my d/ls. Have completely forgotten how to...

Transmuting between chemical elements is dangerous because there are 256 possible atomic numbers but only 81 of them correspond to valid elements. The rest give you glitch elements that behave erratically and can even corrupt nearby atoms and molecules. Most of these are caused by indexing the periodic table out of bounds, though a couple elements were deleted before release.

disappointingly, the word for "floppy disk" in greek is δισκέτα, which is basically "diskette".
I was really hoping it was just δίσκος, so the greeks would be calling them floppy discuses.
